Abstract
Objective: To investigate the effect of long-term beta2-mimetics (feno terol) on fetal renal blood flow. Methods: Doppler spectra of the feta l renal artery of 40 women on long-term tocolysis with beta2-mimetics (fenoterol) were compared with Doppler spectra of healthy pregnant wom en at the same gestational age. Results: No difference was found betwe en the collective with, and the one without, beta2-mimetics Conclusion s: We conclude that in steady-state, beta2 stimulation has no effect o n renal perfusion in the human fetus which corresponds to observations in animal studies.
