Abstract
The dynamic hold-up of a honeycomb-type packing (Turbo-Pack) with groo ves intended for liquid turbulization in the region of the boundary la yer has been studied. The packing ensured enhancement of liquid-film a nd gas-film controlled mass transfer as well as a lower pressure drop per mass transfer unit. A comparison has also been made by studying pa ckings without turbulizers. The effects of geometry, superficial gas a nd liquid velocities and liquid-phase properties on the packing hold-u p have been investigated. Based on the experimental data obtained, equ ations for determining the packing hold-up under and over the loading point are derived.
