We report on the preparation and electrical resistivity, a.c. suscepti
bility, d.c. magnetization, X-ray diffraction and scanning electron mi
croscopy measurements of the Bi1.6Pb0.3M0.1Sr2Ca2Cu3Oy (M=W,Mo) superc
onducting system. The results can be summarized as follows. (1) Doping
of WO3-MoO3 increased the fraction of the high T(c) phase by reducing
the amount of low T(c) phase. (2) Coupling between the grains is weak
ened by doping. (3) The intragrain critical current density is not aff
ected by doping.
