Abstract
New dicarboxybisimide monomers have been synthesized. Polyimidophospho anhydrides are prepared by reacting dicarboxybisimides with dichloroph enylphosphine oxide by the two phase polycondensation in dichlorometha ne-aq alkaline solution using a phase transfer catalyst and characteri zed by melting point, elemental analysis, viscosity measurement, molec ular weight determination, ESCA study, IR, PMR and P-31-NMR spectral d ata and X-ray diffraction studies. The thermal properties and flame re tardancy of the polymers have been evaluated.
