Abstract
Pyrolysis gas chromatography has been used to analyze, quantitatively, commonly found synthetic polymers in pulp and paper mill pitch deposi ts. The pyrolyzer used in this study enables the analysis of very smal l amounts of material; for example, spots on paper. A procedure has be en developed which overcomes sampling errors in cases where the polyme r particles are a very minor fraction of the total deposit.
