Extensive measurements of radiocarbon have been used in New Zealand si
nce the mid-1960s to follow carbon (C) movement and turnover in soils.
We present here unpublished radiocarbon (C-14) measurements on a rang
e of eight New Zealand soils with details of the sites, ecosystems, cl
imates, soil descriptions and associated analytical data. An overview
is also given of published C-14 measurements on soils, and the use of
these measurements to model soil C turnover.
