Recent identification of the hepatitis E virus allowed to recognize it
s responsability in enterically transmitted non-A, non-B hepatitis. He
patitis E is a wide-spread affection, occuring in epidemics or endemo
sporadic cases in many disadvantaged countries it is an imported disea
se. Clinical aspects are the same as hepatitis A, except unusual gravi
ty in pregnant women. We report epidemiological and clinical aspects o
f 39 imported hepatitis E (27 from Chad, 6 from French Guyana, 6 from
Somalia) observed in our service among military personnal.
