The necessity for a multiple sidelobe canceller (MSLC) that suppresses
several interference waves incident corresponding to complex radio en
vironment is increasing. In the MSLC, there exists interference incide
nt directions for which the suppression capability is degraded substan
tially, depending on the arrangement of auxiliary antennas. In this pa
per, the problem of degradation of the suppression capability of sever
al interference waves depending on the direction of incidence is studi
ed in the case where the two interference waves are suppressed by the
MSLC with two auxiliary antennas. The relationship of the suppression
capability to the receiving phase difference between the auxiliary ant
ennas for each interference wave is discussed. Further, based on the r
esults, an arrangement method of the auxiliary antennas minimizing the
suppression capability degradation is presented. It is shown by numer
ical calculations that the suppression capability degradation can be i
mproved by means of the configuration of the auxiliary antennas obtain
ed by this method.
