S. Hauge et al., METAL-ION INTERFERENCES IN DETERMINATION OF SULFUR BY FLAME MOLECULAR-EMISSION SPECTROMETRY, Analytica chimica acta, 291(1-2), 1994, pp. 107-113
The well known interference from metal ions on disulphur emission in f
lames was investigated. Sulphite was introduced by flow-injection thro
ugh a cation-exchange column into a hydrogen-nitrogen diffusion flame.
The effects of sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium, nickel and copp
er ions were investigated. Cooling of the flame, metal catalyzed oxida
tion, solubility differences and the formation of metal disulphites ha
ve been suggested to explain the variation of the observed interferenc
es.
