Abstract
Coronavirus subgenomic minus-strand RNAs (negative-strand copies of th e 3' coterminal subgenomic mRNAs) probably function in mRNA amplificat ion by serving as templates for transcription from internal (intergeni c) promoters, rather than by faithful (full-length) mRNA replication.
