Iv. Lindell et Ki. Nikoskinen, IMAGE METHOD FOR ELECTROSTATIC PROBLEMS INVOLVING PLANAR ANISOTROPIC MEDIA BASED ON TRANSMISSION-LINE ANALOGY, Archiv fur Elektrotechnik, 77(4), 1994, pp. 251-257
Static problems involving anisotropic media have long been in the inte
rest of geoelectromagneticists. Solving problems of that kind have bee
n, however, quite cumbersome and lengthly, involving coordinate scalin
g procedures with lots of indexed variables. The image method stands a
s an attractive alternative since no coordinates are involved and the
image concept gives a quasi-physical quantity which can be handled jus
t like ordinary physical sources. The present paper gives a simple met
hod for deriving the image sources based on a transmission-line analog
y. The problems treated are PEC (perfectly electrically conducting) an
d PMC (perfectly magnetically conducting) boundaries together with ani
sotropic impedance boundaries and interfaces of two anisotropic media
with similar anisotropies.
