Abstract
Boundary-dependent patterns with different symmetries are observed in an optical system containing a Liquid-Crystal-Light-Valve acting as a Kerr-like non-linearity. For a small optical aperture, the observed sh apes and time-dependent competition confirm recent theoretical predict ions.
