Abstract
The current study compared two self-report measures of sensation seeki ng as predictors of alcohol use among Australian high school adolescen t males. Zuckerman's (1979) Sensation Seeking Scale was compared to Ar nett's recently developed (1994) Inventory of Sensation Seeking (AISS) as predictors of frequency and quantity measures of alcohol use, incl uding a measure of binge drinking. The findings suggest the need for i ntensity of stimulation accounts for the relationship between sensatio n seeking and alcohol use. These results also extend the documented re lationship between sensation seeking and alcohol use to an Australian adolescent male population. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
