The stress relaxation technique has been used to characterize the stra
in-hardening rate and the strain-rate sensitivity of the flow stress a
s a function of temperature in nickel-base intermetallic alloys. In th
is paper, we report a summary of our experimental results obtained for
two alloys. Ni3(Al. Ta ) and Ni3(Al. Hf). The contribution of this te
chnique to the understanding of the anomalous behaviour of the flow st
ress with temperature in these alloys is outlined.
