G. Eldiwani et al., TREATMENT OF AMMONIUM-NITRATE FERTILIZER FOR CAKE PREVENTION, Industrial & engineering chemistry research, 33(6), 1994, pp. 1620-1622
Caking of ammonium nitrate is prevented by coating the finished produc
t with inert dust and/or a surfactant and by adding an inorganic salt
or nucleating agent (a stabilizer) to the melt prior to prilling. In t
he present work, selected locally available anticaking agents are test
ed on ammonium nitrate produced in Egyptian fertilizer companies. Anti
caking efficiencies are evaluated and compared. Optimum doses for each
anticaking agent and anticaking composition are determined by a bench
scale experimental technique.
