Do. Grigorev et al., KINETIC-STUDY OF SOLUTIONS OF DODECYLPYRIDINIUM BROMIDE BY THE CAPILLARY WAVE METHOD, Colloid journal of the Russian Academy of Sciences, 55(5), 1993, pp. 658-661
The results of measurements of the damping factor and capillary wave l
ength on the interface of aqueous solutions of dodecylpyridinium bromi
de with air are reported. In the concentration range up to CMC, the ex
perimental data are in satisfactory agreement with the theoretical val
ues obtained by hypothesizing a diffusion mechanism of adsorption. A s
econd maximum on the curve of the damping factor vs. concentration cur
ve was detected in the region of the CMC, indicating the effect of mic
ellization processes on the dynamic surface properties. The estimation
of the characteristic time of the slow stage of micellization is in g
ood agreement with the published data, suggesting that the capillary w
ave method can be used for studying the kinetics of micellization.
