Av. Sineva et Av. Pertsov, MICELLE FORMATION IN SODIUM TAUROCHOLATE-LECITHIN-WATER MIXTURES, Colloid journal of the Russian Academy of Sciences, 55(5), 1993, pp. 749-753
Tensiometric and conductometric methods were used to study micelle for
mation in aqueous solutions of sodium taurocholate, lecithin (in the p
resence of ethanol), and their mixtures with variation of the sodium t
aurocholate concentration. Two types of isotherms of the surface tensi
on were obtained: the usual type and with a minimum. Computer processi
ng of the results of the measurements yielded characteristics of the a
dsorption layers of sodium taurocholate (maximum adsorption, area occu
pied by a molecule on the water-air interface), as well as the critica
l micelle concentration (CMC) of solutions of the surfactants and mixt
ures studied and the degree of binding of counterions in the micelles.
Lipid-detergent interactions of the components of the mixtures are di
scussed.
