Ga. Chiganova et al., ELECTROPHORETIC BEHAVIOR OF HYDROSOLS OF ULTRADISPERSE DIAMOND AND MODIFICATION OF ITS SURFACE, Colloid journal of the Russian Academy of Sciences, 55(5), 1993, pp. 774-775
The method of macro-electrophoresis is used to determine values of the
zeta-potential of particles of ultradisperse diamond in solutions of
AlCl3. It is shown that an increase in the concentration of aluminum i
ons to 0.5.10(-4) M leads to a decrease in the negative charge of the
diamond particles; the dispersions coagulate in more concentrated solu
tions of AlCl3. Chemical modification of the surface of ultradisperse
diamond by aluminum ions is used to obtain stable hydrosols with posit
ively charged diamond particles.
