Fundamental principles of time Fourier superhigh-resolution laser spec
troscopy on the basis of the pulse optical fields are reported. Experi
mental results on the obtainment of high stable ultrashort optical pul
ses using a self-mode-locked laser and phase synchronization of pulse
repetition frequency by means of an external highly stable rf generato
r are described. The possibility of the application of the new method
of precision spectroscopy for absolute frequency measurements is consi
dered. The concrete schemes of absolute frequency measurements in the
IR, visible, and UV spectral regions are discussed.
