The possibilities of palladium deposition on carbon cloth (type ULSh)
by electrodeposition and impregnation were investigated; the character
istics of the resulting Pd/C electrodes were determined. Hydrogen adso
rption and absorption were studied by using copper adatoms; the amount
s of hydrogen dissolved in the alpha-phase of Pd(H) were studied as a
function of potential; the isotherm of hydrogen adsorption was calcula
ted. A correlation was found to exist between the hydrogen concentrati
on in the alpha-phase of Pd(H) and the degree of dispersion of the pal
ladium.
