Theoretical and experimental data concerning the electrocatalytic syst
em operating in the reduction of different groups of organic compounds
at cathodes activated with hydrogenation catalysts were reported. The
mechanism and direction of the electrode reactions were shown to depe
nd on the contact between the electrode's substrate and active layer.
