Results of spectral kinetic investigations of LiLuF4:Ce3+ (LLF:Ce) cry
stals are presented. We created a UV laser using interconfiguration 5d
-4f transitions of Ce3+ ions in LiLuF4 pumped by an excimer KrF laser.
In energy parameters and photochemical stability of the active medium
, the designed LLF:Ce laser is vastly superior to analogous YLF:Ce las
ers. The created laser shows considerable promise for various applicat
ions.
