V. Kabasakalis et A. Tsolaki, FLUORIDE CONTENT OF VEGETABLES IRRIGATED WITH WATERS OF HIGH FLUORIDELEVELS, Fresenius environmental bulletin, 3(6), 1994, pp. 377-380
Fluoride content of vegetables which were irrigated with water of an u
nusual high F- concentration (at the level of 10 mg/L), was determined
by ion selective electrode and the values obtained were compared to t
hose from vegetables irrigated with water of a usual F- concentration
(at the level of 0.15 mg/L). Additional experiments were performed wit
h parsley grown in the glasshouse and irrigated with water doped with
F- at three levels (0.13, 10.0 and 15.0 mg/L). The results showed that
, in all cases, F-concentration in plant tissue increased as F- levels
in the irrigation water was increased. Also, fluoride had the tendenc
y to accumulate in the vegetable leaves than in the fruits.
