M. Bensadon et J. Oquigley, INTEGRAL EVALUATION FOR CONTINUAL REASSESSMENT METHOD, Computer methods and programs in biomedicine, 42(4), 1994, pp. 271-273
In this paper we show how the exact analytical solutions to the numeri
cal integrals required in the implementation of the continual reassess
ment method can be evaluated. The formulas have been given but, with i
ncreasing sample size, rapidly become unwieldy. We develop an algorith
m which uses the numerical binary representation of the subset size an
d, in the process, enables us to easily identify those members of the
subset needed in the integral evaluation. The complex combinatorial pr
oblem of selecting the set of all subsets with a particular characteri
stic is then greatly simplified. We describe the nature and type of al
l the variables and parameters used in a PASCAL procedure.
