Jd. Taylor et al., POLYARTHRITIS IN WILD MICE (MUS-MUSCULUS) CAUSED BY STREPTOBACILLUS-MONILIFORMIS, Australian Veterinary Journal, 71(5), 1994, pp. 143-145
Mice trapped on farms in south-eastern Queensland had chronic abscessa
ting osteoarthritides mainly involving the carpi and tarsi. Pleomorphi
c bacteria were shown by silver staining to be plentiful within lesion
s. Streptobacillus moniliformis was isolated from the joints, and stre
ptobacillary polyarthritis was diagnosed. Other lesions observed inclu
ded subcutaneous and hepatic abscesses.
