Abstract
Reaction of CpRh(H)2(SiMe3)2 with two equivalents of butyl-lithium in
THF, followed by addition of N-methyl-2-chlorpyridinium tetrafluorobo
rat gives the bis(carbene) complex CpRh(=C-NMe-CH=CH-CH=CH)2. A mecha
nism is proposed involving a sequence of deprotonation, substitution a
nd Me3SiCl elimination steps, starting with the known anionic complex
Li[CpRh(H)(SiMe3)2].
