Abstract
A nonlinear dynamical system incorporating a time delay has an infinit e-dimensional phase space, making difficult any exploration of its bas ins of attraction and their boundaries. In this paper the straddle-orb it method is used to explore the basic sets lying within and governing the basin boundaries of the differential-difference equation of Minor sky. An interesting example in which these unstable boundary sets foll ow a period-doubling cascade to chaos is presented.
