Hn. Nigg et al., TEST PROTOCOLS AND TOXICITY OF ORGANOPHOSPHATE INSECTICIDES TO CARIBBEAN FRUIT-FLY (DIPTERA, TEPHRITIDAE), Journal of economic entomology, 87(3), 1994, pp. 589-595
General methods for testing effects of toxicants on Anastrepha suspens
a (Loew) (Caribbean fruit fly) are described. We estimated relative to
xicities of topically applied methamidophos, malathion, ethion, and ac
ephate and orally administered dimethoate, methamidophos, phosdrin, ac
ephate, malathion, and chlorpyrifos for a laboratory colony of A. susp
ensa. Females were significantly more tolerant to malathion than males
by oral administration but not by topical application. Other pesticid
es were not differentially toxic to sexes.
