Abstract
Trophozoites of a Hexamita-like sp. were observed in the cecum and lar ge intestines of two recently transported captive Florida sandhill cra nes (Grus canadensis pratensis) that died with acute fibrinonecrotizin g enteritis and catarrhal typhlitis. This is the first report of this organism in cranes in North America.
