Eight lambs were experimentally infected by 200 metacercariae of Fasci
ola hepatica. The exploration of biotransformation liver enzymes revea
led led a decrease in microsomal cytochrome P450 concentration in infe
cted animals. This decrease was confirmed by diminished monooxygenases
, such as the N-demethylase activities and might reflect alteration of
the liver tissue due to fluke migrations. A triclabendazole treatment
after 6 weeks was effective but did not permit complete recovery of l
iver enzyme activities.
