Abstract
The thermal expansion curves and some magnetic properties of Fe90-xMxZ r10 (M = Co, Cr) ternary amorphous alloys were measured, and the depen dence on effective electron number N(eff) of the spontaneous volume ma gnetostriction omega(s) and the average magnetic moment muBAR were obt ained. The results show that the omega(s) has a maximum at N(eff) almo st-equal-to 8.1-8.2 where the muBAR begins to decrease drastically. Th is result provides experimental evidence that the Invar effect of the metal-metal amorphous alloys is also related to the instability of the ferromagnetism.
