Abstract
This paper presents the X-ray diffraction investigation of ball-millin g-induced transformation of boehmite (gamma-AlOOH) and of gibbsite (Al (OH)3) to corundum (alpha-Al2O3). The results are compared with the tr ansformation observed in heating experiments, and the conclusion is dr awn that equivalence exists between the high energy ball milling and t he thermal process.
