Powders of Fe100-xVx (11 less-than-or-equal-to x less-than-or-equal-to
74) with a disordered b.c.c. structure were prepared by ball milling,
using a mixture of elemental Fe and V powders and the sigma phase all
oy as starting powders. The milling process was monitored by measuring
changes in magnetization and X-ray diffraction spectrum. The Curie te
mperature for the metastable b.c.c. phase was determined over the V co
ncentration range 11 less-than-or-equal-to x less-than-or-equal-to 53.
The data in the range x less-than-or-equal-to 33 agreed well with tho
se in the literature, whereas the data in the range 34 less-than-or-eq
ual-to x less-than-or-equal-to 53 were obtained for the first time.
