A. Zryd et al., LAMELLAR EUTECTICS - A COMPARISON OF 3 MODELS VALID AT HIGH GROWTH-RATES, Materials science & engineering. A, Structural materials: properties, microstructure and processing, 182, 1994, pp. 1392-1396
A growth model for lamellar eutectic growth developed on the basis of
an exact numerical solution for the concentration field in front of th
e solid-liquid interface is presented. This model is valid at high gro
wth rates, without any constraint on the phase diagram shape. The resu
lts obtained from this model for the Fe-Fe3C system are compared with
the results obtained with frequently used growth models, based on anal
ytical approximate solutions. For high growth rates, the interface und
ercooling and the limiting velocity show significant differences betwe
en the models.
