Abstract
Counts of mesophilic aerobes, coliforms, aerobic spore formers and sta phylococci in market samples of icecream varied in relation to the sou rces and packages. Higher counts of coliforms were prevalent in sample s collected from local vendors. Icecream samples from parlours and hot els showed higher staphylococcal counts. With reference to the package s, icecream sold in cups had higher counts of coliforms and staphyloco cci, while aerobic spore formers were on a higher side in icecream bar s.
