A. Weber et al., INVESTIGATIONS TO OCCURRENCE OF LISTERIA- MONOCYTOGENES AND OTHER LISTERIA SPECIES IN FECAL SAMPLES OF HORSES, Monatshefte fur Veterinarmedizin, 49(5), 1994, pp. 199-201
Listeria spp. were isolated from fecal samples of 49 (12,3%) from 400
horses. 19 isolates were identified as Listeria (L.) monocytogenes (7x
serovar 1/2 a, 6x serovar 112 b and 4 a b, respectively), whereas 24
isolates were identified as L. innocua (7x serovar 6a, 17x serovar 6 b
), 6 isolates as L. seeligeri (serovar 6 b) and 3 isolates as L. welsh
imeri (serovar 6 b). At results of these cultural examinations show th
at horses too can harbour and shed not only L. monocytogenes but als o
ther L. spp. invariable frequency.
