Abstract
Two new triterpenoid glycosides called medicago-saponins P-1 (1) and P -2 (2) were isolated together with five known glycosides from the aeri al parts of Medicago polymorpha L. (Leguminosae). The structures of 1 and 2 were determined to be 3-0-alpha-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1 --> 2)-alph a-L-arabinopyranosyl caulophyllogenin 28-0-beta-D-gIucopyranosyl-(1 -- > 6)-beta-D-glucopyranoside and the desglucoside of 1.
