Abstract
A novel DNA cleaving agent 2,2'-bis(2-aminoethyl)-4,4'-bithiazole (1)
was synthesized. Only in the presence of Co(II), a significant cleavin
g activity of 1 for plasmid DNA was observed at 10 mu M concentration.
Some inhibition reactions indicated that scavengers of hydroxyl radic
al and singlet oxygen, superoxide dismutase, and catalase could not af
fect the present DNA cleavage.
