Abstract
An analytic model of the response of rectangular plates simply support ed on two opposing edges and elastically supported on the other edges is derived. Transverse shear and rotary inertia in the plate and adjus table stiffness constants in the elastic supports are included in the model. The elastic stiffness constants are adjusted to simulate classi cal boundary conditions and results compared to published results. The variation of frequencies of resonance with the stiffness of the elast ic supports is shown. The effect of fluid on the resonant responses of simply supported plates is presented.
