Et. Schreiber et Jp. Cuda, EVALUATION OF PUBLIC INFORMATION PACKETS FOR SOURCE REDUCTION IN 3 SOCIOECONOMIC AREAS OF TAMPA, FLORIDA, Journal of the American Mosquito Control Association, 10(2), 1994, pp. 154-162
Three surveys of 3 distinct socioeconomic areas (low, medium, and high
) for artificial containers infested with mosquitoes were conducted in
Tampa, FL, during June-August 1992. The 3 socioeconomic areas were fu
rther subdivided into 2 groups: those receiving literature explaining
the cultural control practice of removing artificial containers as mos
quito developmental sites, and those given no literature. A significan
t reduction in the number of positive premises having containers with
mosquito development was noted only in the low income area. Reductions
in the number of mosquito positive bromeliads were seen in the high a
nd middle income areas.
