Photoconductivity of Ti3+ in Al2O3, Y3Al5O12 and MgAl2O4 were studied
by one-step and two-step ionization at room and liquid-nitrogen temper
atures. By virtue of its selectivity, two-step photoconductivity can g
ive more accurate ionization thresholds than the one-step process. The
thresholds obtained agree with the predicted values based on a simple
model.
