Abstract
Stripe and hillock arrays have been manufactured from PbSe layers by a holographic technique. Interband photoluminescence of stripes is spli t into up to eight subband transitions indicating strong carrier confi nement as a consequence of small effective masses in PbSe. Each subban d transition is observed above a certain excitation threshold.
