Abstract
The influence of dynamic and especially static disorder on the electro nic properties of molecular chains is investigated. It is shown that e ven weak disorder leads to localization of energetically low lying exc iton states and that the optical absorption spectrum depends strongly on the nature (dichotomic or Gaussian) and strength of disorder.
