Abstract
We present and discuss the results of lifetime measurements of the lum inescence of polyethylene phthalate containing the Eu(pya)3.2H2O compl ex (pya = pyrazine carboxylate). The variation of the lifetime of the 5D0 level of the Eu3+ ion with the excitation wavelength is attributed to the formation of an exciplex involving the pya and polymer chain.
