Abstract
A laser diode based detector for laser-induced fluorescence was design ed. Sensitivity measurements with rhodamine 800 showed a detection lim it of 100 molecules. Using time-resolved fluorescence measurements new fluorescent dyes, called multiplex dyes, were recognized with a pulse d laser diode by their characteristic fluorescence lifetime and a patt ern recognition technique collecting only a few hundred photons.
