Abstract
A Mollwo-Ivey power-law relation between host-crystal lattice paramete r and absorption-band energy of defects in ionic solids implies a line ar relation between defect radius and interionic separation. The Ivey exponent represents a generalized compressibility and is correlated to Stokes shifts as an approximate measure of relaxation.
