Abstract
We investigated the origin of excitonic bands related with the molecul ar arrangement of highly oriented J-aggregates of pseudoisocyanine bro mide prepared by a novel method called ''vertical spin-coating''. The dichroic spectrum of the oriented J-aggregates is successfully explain ed by linear aggregates composed of dimers.
