Abstract
Medical equipment applying ionizing radiation for diagnostic imaging r equires phosphors with dedicated luminescent properties. Polycrystalli ne scintillators have recently been created especially for X-ray compu ted tomography. High X-ray absorption, high light output, fast decay t ime and low afterglow are the requirements. The effect of codopants to lower the afterglow is discussed.
