Abstract
Treatment of Os3(CO)10(C2Me2) with CpW-(CO)2(=CTol) produced the alkyl idyne-alkyne cluster CpWOs3(CO)10(mu3-CMe)(CMeCTol) (2) and the dimeta lloallyl complex CpWOs3(CO)9[C(Me)C(Me)C(Tol)] (3) in sequence. Thermo lysis of 3 induced the selective scission of one C-C bond to give a se cond alkylidyne-alkyne cluster, CpWOs3(CO)8(mu3-CTol)(C2Me2) (4), prov iding a model of alkyne metathesis through a dimetalloallyl intermedia te.
