Abstract
The total synthesis of the tetrasaccharide sequence of the ganglioside GD(3) -Neup5Ac-(2-->3)-beta-D-Galp-(1-->4)-beta-D-Glcp-) as the 4-met hyl-3-pentenyl glycoside (13) has been accomplished in a relatively st raightforward manner. This derivative displays reasonable H-1 NMR char acteristics in D2O and has subsequently been coupled to a carrier prot ein by employing the ozonolysis-reductive amination procedure.
